100th Post!

This is my 100th post!  I initially started this blog when my husband and I went on our honeymoon so that our family and friends back home could track with us on our trip.  Then I abandoned it for a little bit, then felt like I wanted to keep up with blogging so I randomly published a few posts on making roasted squash seeds, crocheted scarecrows, and some photography.  Once I got my sewing machine and started sewing and quilting I started publishing on a regular basis.  77 of my 100 posts happened in the last 6 months!

As a celebration of my 100th post I'd like to host a giveaway.  I bought this towel from my local Goodwill store and made a little apron out of it.

So you know the drill.  You can have up to 3 entries:

1)  Leave a comment - any comment!
2)  Become a follower or let me know if you already are.
3)  Repost on your blog or facebook and come back and let me know you did.

Sometimes Blogger acts up and doesn't allow comments to be left.  If that happens, just email me.  Email entries will count the same as comments left here.  Sorry for the inconvenience!

The winner will be chosen at random and chosen November 1.

Contents of Package

Sorry to keep you in suspense about my package that arrived a few days ago.  I was excited to open it and find my Basic Grey Sampler I won a few weeks ago!!

It came with several cute buttons and a pretty pink flower.  Once I finish off a few WIPs I'll try my hand at completing this!

Giveaway Winner!

Remember long ago when I asked for your opinion on the wedding placemats I was working on?  Well, I promised I'd randomly choose from those who commented and sent emails and send them a little gift.  I FINALLY got around to making a little mug rug and picking a winner!

Congrats, Barb!!

Help!

To make a long story short... I was planning on making some placemats for a coworker for her wedding.  I had decided on making them black and white since they goes with anything, right?  Because of a delay in ordering and the postal strike, I wasn't able to get all the fabrics I wanted.  I have a ton of left over reds and blacks from the kaleidoscope quilt and thought maybe I'd use the scraps for the placemats.  I made one place mat top up this evening.

What do you think?  Mr Mouse said it's a little bold, but my mom likes it.  Do you think it would be appropriate for a placemat for a wedding gift?  The gal I'm planning on giving them to is trendy and fun and energetic, and I think it would suit her personality.  But I don't want to give it to her if it's too crazy.

Please leave me a comment with your opinion!  Every once in a while the comment form doesn't work.  In that case feel ree to send me an email!  I'll make a mug rug out of the scraps, and I'll randomly pick from the comments and emails and award the mug rug to the winner!

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

I love entering giveaways.  Most of the time I enter, and then totally forget about the giveaway entirely.  That's what happened this time.  I was surprised and delighted when Amy from During Quiet Time emailed me to say I had won her Ruched Happy Bag Pattern!  Isn't it cute?!

I'll have to go buy some zippers and give it a try!  :)

WIP Wednesday #3

Unfortunately not much got done this week  :(  I was focused on the party all last week and then was gone to Golden for white water rafting on the weekend.  But, I did get a little done!

New Projects

1)  Amy Butler's Cosmo Bag

I found some left over home decor weight material that I had bought to recover my vanity stool.  The pattern is a little larger, so I thought it would be perfect for this bag!

Ongoing Projects

1)  Pink and Green Quilt

Ok, I need to pick an original name for this one.  Any suggestions?  If you have any, leave a comment!  I'll pick my fave and the winner will receive a cute coffee mug sleeve :)

Anyway, I have almost finished the quilting for this one!  I'm probably about 3/4 the way through!

Now I just have to cut and sew on the binding.  I'm going to use this for the binding:

It's getting so close! I'm so excited to be almost done my first quilt!  I couldn't have done it without Cleo; she was such a big help.

2)  Wedding Placemats

Unfortunately due to the lame Canada Post strike, we weren't able to order the fabrics I wanted from Hawthorne Threads.  So I might not get these done in time.  The wedding is at the end of July.  Bah.

3)  Skill Builder Sampler QAL

You can see my progress here.

4)  Olive Circles Dress

I got the pattern and material cut out for this one.  I now just have to book a time with my mom to go over to her place and use her serger.

On Hold

4)  2 Dresses

Completed

1)  Pillowcase Skirt

Well, this one isn't actually completed.  I had cut it the length I wanted, made the space for the elastic waistband, and threaded the elastic through when I finally decided to try it on.  It was too small for my big bum!  I was so disappointed!  So I'm just going to take it apart, keep the elastic for something else, and cut it up for a quilt.  Oh well, you win some and you lose some.

In the New Year I participated in a Craft it Forward event on Facebook.  I had so much fun with it!  I was able to make some crafts for some special ladies, and it turn got a few things myself!  I was excited to see this post on Fiber of All Sorts because it meant I got to do it all over again!

It's Here!

No, I'm not talking about warm, summer weather.  Nor am I talking about lower gas prices.  I'm talking about the fantasticTravel Organizer from Ute that I received as part of the SMS Giveaway!

My husband called me at work to tell me that 3 things arrived for me in the mail yesterday (which was surprising, due to the lovely postal strike that is plaguing Canada these days.)  I nearly died at work in anticipation of opening my packages when I got home.  No joke.  I finally got home and was excited to find my Crochet Today! magazine, a purchase from Etsy,

and the Travel Organizer!  It was just as lovely in person as it was in the pictures.  Now I can't wait for my next trip to put it to good use!!

Apron Giveaway

The other day I was perusing through the Goodwill store by my house and found some really cute sheets.

I really liked this orange stripy one...

...and it had such a pretty hem on it!  I wanted to do something special with this, so I hemmed the two sides,

put ties and a waistband on (using fabric from another vintage sheet),

and added a pocket!

And this is how it turned out!

I'm not normally a huge orange fan, but I love how the fabrics work together and look so sunny and cheerful!  As my friend Jessy said, it's "a super thrifting win!"

So now on to the giveaway part.  I'd love to be able to share my apron with you!  Here's how you can have a chance at winning it - just leave a comment, and on June 15th I'll pick a random number and the author of that comment will win!  Only one comment per person, please!  But I will give you an opportunity for a second entry.  All you have to do is post my giveaway on your blog, come on back to my blog, and write a second comment telling me you did that!  Please make sure you either provide your email in your comment, or have it linked to your account.

Good luck!

I won again!

I was folding some fabric today when my phone told me I had a new email.  You'll never guess who it was...  It was Ute from durbanville.design telling me I had won her giveaway!  To be honest, I had totally forgotten that some of the bloggers who participated in the Sew, Mama, Sew! giveaway were still drawing winners.

I was so excited to win this prize!  My husband and I love to travel, and he frequently makes fun of me because I always like to have my travel documents in one place within reach.  So now it'll be so much easier with this amazing travel organizer!!

Many thanks to Ute for her generous giveaway!

I won, I won!!

Sadly I was too late to enter an item to be given away in Sew, Mama, Sew!'s Giveaway Day, but I wasn't too late to enter to win other  bloggers' giveaways!  I was home sick with a stomach bug/migraine on Tuesday and spent the majority of the day checking out what other bloggers were giving away.  There was some fantastic stuff out there, and was excited to be able to throw my name in the draw!

The deadline to enter was last night, and slowly over the course of the day I saw other people winning items I had entered into the draw for.  My friend Jessy even won twice!  My hopes were fading until I got an email late in the afternoon saying I had won something!

Tiffany from Art Food and Motherhood was generously giving away these darling little bottle cap bird magnets:

(photo taken from her blog)

I am very excited to receive them.  We recently moved into a new office building and all of my office walls are magnetic.  It'll be nice to have some cute magnets to brighten up the place!

Hmmm, I wonder if the mail has come yet?
